Sea Change 04:03
I feel the weather change Without letting it blow me away I have a thought that I want to engage Do you wanna be so in love That you break your own rule She takes my hand and out of time we’re above the city I step off a building and fly Reckless and calm our flesh is earth and silver

The Edge 02:06
At the edge of ocean At the egde of sky

Snowglobe 04:49
On one side you sense a perimeter On the other the line softens Stepping inside the circle expands it Edges become gradients On one side it’s a line On the other side it’s the rolling tide A half silvered looking glass and no gravity We hold each other through canopies of light and vines Into carnival mirrors Into nightclubs that fill up the sky The moment a forest is your world Suddenly becomes a field Suddenly becomes Last night internet showed you a meteor For a moment belief falters Pearls and sand a pieces of granite flung from the radiant On one side it’s a line On the other side it’s the rolling tide A half silvered looking glass and no gravity We hold each other through myriads of stars that blind me And fill up the ocean Up above me it’s a watery sky The moment a forest is your world Suddenly becomes a field

I Need More 04:18
Overhead Far beyond perceiving You turn lightning into fate And the riverbed to birth me I need more More than what I get from climbing On the eyelid of a giantess far north Far north I see you stumble out of bed when I return Holding my head in your lap as I tell you what’s in the sky All can find to say is: It’s no more graceful than the clothesline hung with billowing sheets and the curtains and the smell of artificial blossoms and rosemary I was suspended there so long I didn’t notice being alone until I passed the point of temporality I burned a hole in the ground by the garden This is how we met
7.
Not sad, just lonely Sleeping in separate rooms Breakfast is quiet and discrete Days unfold like daffodils and papermoons Parades and festival celebrate the same new in a loop And i’m empty Every perfect day and we’re further away from the memory Spend a long time in dreams I wake up but I won’t leave them And i’ll tell you but you won’t believe them You used to believe there’s a realness in dreams And you Try to remember the starlands How the moon whispers You want to remember I’m not sad, I’m just lonely I lost the one golden summer in the time it took to travel back to earth One golden summer, I lost the one golden summer

about

In Starland, one experiences a seemingly limitless form of existence. To get there, one must take a risk. One must be willing to experience the journey. In this journey, one of the two bound for Starland is only there for a moment, or doesn’t quite make it, or gets lost in another world. The other is unsure of what happens to her, except that upon returning, she doesn’t remember.

Starland is Claire Dickson’s debut album, created on a boat in the Arctic Circle and her apartment in Brooklyn.

Special thanks to family, Maya, Hannah, Gabe, Tree, Jordan, Camila, Lee, Mingjia, Grey, and the artists and crew of the Arctic Circle Residency Autumn Expedition.
